Heron wearing human garbage

strongThis photograph was a grab shot and not technically a good photograph. The reason for the shot of the Great Blue Heron was to show the impact of human waste. This heron got a section of plastic around her neck. I can't tell the density of the plastic material but high density usually equates to high tear or rip resistance. She could have great difficulty getting this off her neck. It won't just slip off. /strongbr/ br/ strongThe real danger is when she is feeding. They plunge their heads underwater when striking prey such as fish and frogs. This plastic could easily get snagged on anything under the water. I won't elaborate as to the consequences but it could lead to the death of this beautiful bird./strongbr/ br/ strongEnough said of HUMAN GARBAGE./strong
